National Education Association - NEA is America's oldest and largest organization committed to advancing the cause of public education. Founded in 1857 in Philadelphia and now headquartered in Washington, D.C., NEA proudly claims over 2.3 million members who work at every level of education, from pre-school to university graduate programs. NEA has affiliates in every state as well as in over 13,000 local communities across the United States.

 

National Middle School Association - Established in 1973, National Middle School Association (NMSA) serves as a voice for professionals, parents, and others interested in the educational and developmental needs of young adolescents (youth 10-15 years of age).

 

National School Boards Association - The National School Boards Association is the nationwide advocacy and outreach organization for public school governance.   

 

American Association of School Administrators - AASA, founded in 1865, is the professional organization for over 16,500 educational leaders across North America and in many other countries. The four major focus areas for AASA are:

bulletEnhancing the quality and effectiveness of school leaders
American Federation of Teachers - The AFT is a 984,000-member union of public and professional employees, including public and private school teachers, paraprofessionals and school-related personnel (PSRP's), higher education faculty and professionals, employees of state and local governments, nurses and health professionals.

 

National Association Elementary School Principals - The National Association of Elementary School Principals was founded in 1921 by a group of principals who sought to promote their profession and to provide a national forum for their ideas. Over the past 75 years, NAESP has grown to become the most powerful voice of Pre-K-8 principals across the United States and around the world.

 

National Parent Teacher Association - The National PTA is the oldest and largest volunteer association in the United States working exclusively on behalf of children and youth.

 

American Library Association - The American Library Association (ALA) is the oldest, largest and most influential library association in the world. For more than a century, it has been a leader in defending intellectual freedom and promoting the highest quality library and information services.

 

International Reading Association - The International Reading Association is a dynamic and diverse organization that includes classroom teachers, reading specialists, consultants, administrators, supervisors, college teachers, researchers, psychologists, librarians, media specialists, students, and parents. The Association has more than 90,000 members in 99 countries and represents over 350,000 individuals and institutions through its affiliated councils worldwide.

 

South Dakota Reading Council – The SDRC is an affiliate of the International Reading Association, a non-profit service organization dedicated to the improvement of reading instruction and the promotion of a lifetime reading habit. With over 1800 members, the SDRC is the largest professional organization in South Dakota.

 

International Society for Technology in Education - The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) is the largest teacher-based, nonprofit organization in the field of educational technology. Its mission is to help K-12 classroom teachers and administrators share effective methods for enhancing student learning through the use of new classroom technologies.

 

National Council of Teachers of English – Founded in 1911, the NCTE is devoted to improving the teaching of English and the language arts at all levels of education.   

 

Music Educators National Conference - Seventy thousand music educators
working for the education of America's children.

 

National Art Education Association – The NAEA was founded in 1947. Today there is a membership of nearly 15,000 art educators, publishers, manufacturers and suppliers of art materials, parents, students, retired teachers, arts councils, schools, and anyone and everyone concerned about quality art education in our schools.

       

National Association for Gifted Children - The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) is an organization of parents, educators, other professionals and community leaders who unite to address the unique needs of children and youth with demonstrated gifts and talents as well as those children who may be able to develop their talent potential with appropriate educational experiences.   

 

National Association for Sport and Physical Education Is a nonprofit professional organization comprised of individuals engaged in the study of human movement and the delivery of sport and physical activity programs.  This site offers information on conferences, awards, publications and more!  

 

National Business Education Association - NBEA is the leading association devoted to the recognition that business education competencies are essential for all individuals in today's fast-changing society. 

 

International Technology Education Association - ITEA is a professional association for technology education teachers who teach a curriculum called "technology education" which is problem-based learning utilizing math, science and technology principles.

 

National Council for the Social Studies - Founded in 1921, NCSS engages and supports educators in strengthening and advocating social studies.   

 

National Council of Teachers of Mathematics – This site offers numerous links including publications, classifieds, and a catalog.   You can even subscribe to a newsletter to get up-to-date information regularly.  

 

National Science Teachers Association - NSTA, founded in 1944 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, is the largest organization in the world committed to promoting excellence and innovation in science teaching and learning for all.
