Madison: In Tough With The World

Welcome to Madison, South Dakota.  Established in 1870 by  William Lee and Charles Walker on the southwest side of a nearby lake, both the lake and the town were named for Madison, Wisconsin, there previous home.  The town was moved to its current location in 1880 to be near the train stop.

Today, Madison is home to Dakota State University, Rosco Manufacturing and Prostrollo Auto Mall among other businesses.  Madison is county seat of Lake County.  We hope you enjoy visiting the many interesting sites on this Internet Field Trip.
