 Theme - Earthquakes.  I chose this topic for the fifth grade level.  This is best used when discussing natural disasters in both the fall or spring time.  Here are some possible standards that might be addressed:

1)  describe geological features of Earth.

2)  model the way natural forces affect the surface of the earth.

3)  relate natural forces to fast and slow changes in Earth's surface.
