We chose Famous Monkeys as our theme. It is for kindergarten students. This can be done anytime of the year but would be best done while studying monkeys in science or reading about them in literature. This can be be part of a thematic literature based unit based on the book Curious George Goes to the Hospital or any other Curious George Book.

Kindergarten History Standards

• Describe examples of past events in legends and historical accounts, such as stories of Johnny Appleseed, Betsy Ross, Squanto, and George Washington Carver; (Describe Famous Monkeys)

Kindergarten Nature of Science Standards

• Actively participate in science activities.
• Observe and ask questions about the world around them. (example: Where does rain come from?)
• Show an interest in and willingness to investigate unfamiliar objects and events.

Kindergarten Life Science Standards

• Sort living from non-living things. (Real Monkeys from Fictional Monkeys)
• Describe the basic needs of living organisms.
• Recognize similarities and differences in diverse species

Kindergarten Science, Technology, Environment, and Society Standards

• Recognize technology in school, home and community. (example: computer, pencil refrigerator, Velcro, fire truck)
• Describe ways technology makes life easier for people
