Theme- I chose Map the World for my theme.  This lesson is aimed toward students in the first grade.  Some possible standards that might be used are:

• construct a map with a map key and symbols

• using a globe identify various features of the world such as:

  • cardinal directions

  • the four oceans

  • the United States

  • South Dakota

  • the local community

• use a picture map to locate home and school address
